Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays Rockets and Rocket supporters

Hi Folks
As we draw to the end of 2018 it is fitting that I send greetings. This has been a very interesting year we have seen remarkable growth with our skaters. During the recent Richmond Olympic Oval Interclub event, one of the officials commented on the remarkable development of one of our skaters, he did not realise that she was from my club as she was wearing the Oval skinsuit. It is not just our senior skaters but our new skaters are impressive too. I enjoy seeing the drive and enthusiasm that will build these young skaters into the strong competitors of the future. I have to credit the good work of our coaches (I include the Oval coach), we have the best. Our coaching is our strong point.
I am happy to say that this year we have had a very positive and productive relationship with the Richmond Oval, this is a very good thing. Our common goal is to promote speed skating and promote sport in the community, we can do much more working together than we can on our own. The Oval has gone the extra mile for us at every turn, I have to say that it has been enjoyable working with them.
In closing I would like to thank you, our club members and supporters, the parents that drive down to the Oval to bring our skaters to practice, the volunteers that come out when we need them and the board who must drive the administration of this organisation. At the very least we get the kids active and healthy we teach them discipline and how to work hard for a goal. I like to think that at the very best one day I will be watching the Olympics and hear a familiar name called to the podium.
I wish you and your families good health and happiness in 2019, the year of the pig.
Sincerely,
Scott Stewart
President Richmond Rockets Speed Skating Club.
