Rockets News – Spring 2019

1- Emilee Stewart, Giang-Vi & Lan-Vi Nguyen were all nominated to the Richmond Sports Award for their performance in the 2017-2018 season, which was the year of the BC Winter Games. They were nominated for the Youth Female Athlete of the Year. 

Last year Nam Nguyen won the Master Male Athlete of the Year.  The Richmond Sports Council host this yearly ceremony to celebrate the performances of Richmond athletes whom competed in various sports locally, provincially, nationally and internationally. Awards are presented to female and male athletes, teams, coaches and volunteer administrators. The award ceremony will take place at McMath High School on April 25th at 18:00. Tickets are $35, ask Peter our secretary if you wish to attend.

2- Our Head Coach for season 2018-2019, Nathalie, has been nominated for a U-ROC Award  as an Asset Champion. The City of Richmond hosts the U-ROC (Richmond Outstanding Community) Awards every year during Youth Week. The awards celebrate the achievements of youth and adults who support youth within our community.  The Asset Champion Award means that someone has recognized the incredible contributions Coach has made to the lives of young people over the past year. The Award ceremony will take place May 2nd at the Gateway Theater at 18:00.

3- Reminder of the Club’s AGM and Potluck Lunch on May 5th at the Richmond Oval, 12:30 to  16:00.

This year, while the adults are at the AGM, the younger kids will have 1hr with an Oval Staff to do some fun activities, this is free.

Tentative schedule;

  12:30 is set-up and lunch

   13:30 are the speeches and awards

   14:00 is the AGM (kids go with the Oval staff)

   16:00 vacate room
