BC Cups #1 and #2

The Richmond Rockets Speed Skating Club has achieved numerous wins at the recent BC Short Track Cup #1 Speed Skating Competition in Prince George BC last month.  Competing at distances of 200m, 400m, 1200m and 1500m.

Richmond Rocket Skaters include Aaron Liu and Stephen Lim under coach Nathalie Stewart.  Several advanced skaters receive training via the Richmond Ovals High Performance Speed Skating Program to include Ryan Bolton, Wilfred Chan, Daniel Liu, and Roanan Tien-Vidal who train under Nicole Garrido (Provincial Coach) and Chris Poljer-So.  Multiple skaters under both groups won several races in their respective divisions and logged several personal bests (PB’s) at the competition for Richmond.  Skaters Ryan Bolton, Wilfred Chan,  Roanan Tien-Vidal all won top points in their respective divisions.  Roanan Tien-Vidal placed 1st in all five races to include qualifying and finals in his age division while setting 2 PB’s.

The second BC Cup #2 will be held at The Richmond Olympic Oval (Roo) December 14th, racing starting at 8:30am ending at 4:00pm.  On December 15th there will be a BC Speed Skating Academy from 8:00am – 3:00pm.
